FAQs
How can I tell if we are a good fit?
The most important pillar to successful therapy is how comfortable you feel with your therapist. You may feel a connection with me instantly, or it may take a few sessions to figure out whether or not I’m a good match. I respect whichever choice feels right to you. I’ll make sure to check in during our first few sessions to make sure we’re a good fit.
Is therapy even helpful?
I firmly believe that psychotherapy offers a unique space to pause, reflect on, and discover why you do what you do and to also explore healthier ways of engaging with the relationships and world around you. In therapy, you won’t have to worry about the consequences of sharing how you really feel with me. Therapy is a space for creative exploration and getting in touch with what’s really motivating you beneath the surface.
Will my insurance cover our sessions?
I am an out-of-network provider. There are many plans that offer out-of-network coverage—including Cigna, Oxford, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Aetna—where you’ll be reimbursed for a portion of my fee after you meet your deductible.
Call your insurance provider and ask the following:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy?
Do I need prior authorization?
Do I have an out-of-network deductible, and if so, is there a remaining balance?
What percentage will my insurance cover for each mental health session when I begin to be reimbursed (once I meet my out-of-network deductible)?
Can I confirm that you cover CPT code 90834? (that’s the medical code I bill under)
What is the maximum amount ($) per mental health session you consider reasonable?
How many mental health sessions per year are covered? (often, it’s unlimited)
How do I submit a claim for reimbursement?
What’s therapy like?
Therapy sessions with me mean a minimum of weekly, 45-minute sessions. Some people choose to meet with me more frequently, which often means our work can deepen. As a psychotherapist, I am not in the business of giving advice: only you are the expert of your life. Yet I believe that with enough curiosity and collaboration, together we can discover the avenues towards you living most authentically.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Given that all sessions are currently being conducted virtually, I accept electronic payments via credit card, Zelle, or Venmo.
